Spring break for Portland Public Schools (and in other areas as well) arrives next week. If the thought of children going stir crazy in your house makes you shiver, why not take some time and head out to the beach?
Our house is available next week. It can sleep up to 14 people. Get some friends to go out to the coast with you. With high-speed Wi-Fi at the house, you can even continue to get work done from there while the kids play in the sand and nosh on smores.

BTW, if you haven’t been to the house in awhile, you’re in for some surprises. First, it is no longer green. New paint job ahoy! Also, the deck has been refinished. We have replaced the sofa and the TV is now a HDTV. There is a Blu-Ray player. And Dana recently bought a very nice knife set for the kitchen. Basically, everything you need to enjoy your vacation.
So per usual, we’re giving a last minute availability discount. The discount is 15% off our normal winter rate or if you book five days or more, we’ll give you 20% off our winter rate. Our winter rate is $169 per night.
But with the discounts, the rates are:
Standard deposit, cleaning fees and Rockaway Beach room tax apply. See our rates page for details.
Let us know. Either fill out the reservation form or simply give us a call at (503) 957-4097
Thank you for your interest. The house has been rented.
Our beach house is available for labor day weekend. In previous years, Labor Day weekend is usually one of the first weekends to get booked. But for whatever reason, it hasn’t rented so if you’ve got a hankering to get to the coast for a last summer hurrah, now’s your chance.
Because this is last-minute notice, the house is available for 15% discount off of its regular Summer rate (currently $215). Therefore, the rate for would be $182 per night. Or you can pay the normal Summer rate and stay a 3rd night at no charge (a full 33% discount). The $70 cleaning fee and Rockaway Beach room tax still apply.
If you're interested in a longer stay, the discount will apply to every night of your stay.
Even if you can't stay longer, we'd encourage you to consider the 3rd night free option. Normal check out is at 11 am, but if you used the free third night, then you could leave whenever you wanted on Monday. You could maximize the vacation time during your final holiday weekend of the summer.
BTW, Dana and I made some big improvements to the house this year. We’ve refinished the deck, replaced some windows, and gave the house a fresh coat of paint. Next time you visit, tell us what you think!
If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, please make a reservation. Let us know you heard about it from this news article to receive the discount. You can also call us at (503) 957-4097 if you have any questions or to make a reservation over the phone.
We've had a last minute cancellation for Thanksgiving Day weekend leaving our large house—perfect for a family gathering—unoccupied over the holiday weekend.
Watch football on the big screen tv, cook your big Turkey dinner, play on the sand, and warm up in front of the fireplace. This is the perfect opportunity to get away with family and friends and spend some time on the Oregon Coast.
We've launched a new web site and you're looking at it!
The site hasn't changed much from the previous web site. The main reasons for the move were mainly behind the scenes. The old web site was using a plugin that was no longer being maintained.
The main reason for announcing the change is to explain why we haven't blogged about the house in ages, and to let you know that there are new posts coming soon.
We're now introducing Winter Weekend specials. We've been looking for a way to balance the need to book multiple days at a time (to avoid gaps in the calendar and frankly to ensure that people have enough time in the house to relax and enjoy themselves) with the fact that a lot of people can't take an extra day off from work and only have a weekend to visit the coast.
We think we've come up with a pretty good solution that makes the most out of a typical weekend.
We've finally added a Features section to the site. It includes some often asked questions about the floorplan, kitchen supplies, and what to bring to our beach house vacation rental.
Our house, thankfully, has been booked most of the summer so we haven't had much time to visit and see the changes happening in Rockaway Beach lately. We finally visited our house a couple of weeks ago, and we found some significant changes in town.
First, the one thing that Rockaway Beach always seemed to be missing was a salt water taffy and candy store. Thankfully, that void has been filled with a new branch of the Cannon Beach favorite Picnic Basket Candy Store.
We've reduced our rental rates. The new rates are:
The previous rates were $189 for winter and $245 for summer. The rate reductions are based on a better understanding of our costs now that we've owned the house for a few months.
If you are interested about how we determine the rates that we charge, we've provided a detailed explanation below.
We're finally ready to rent the house, and we want to celebrate. We're hosting an holiday party/open house. If you want to get a sneak peek at the house, please feel to come by and say hello.
